Korn – Swallow (Track Of The Day, 11th June)

For Track Of The Day today all I wanted was some gutsy bass, plain and simple. Old school Korn was where I found it, along with gritty guitars and a touch of psychadelia.

“Swallow” is from Korn’s 1996 released Life Is Peachy, along with classics like “No Place To Hide”, “A.D.I.D.A.S.” and the ever-memorable feral scat fueled “Twist”.

“Swallow” is said to be about drug-induced paranoia. Korn take us there with vocals that sound like they’re falling away into another reality, brain-melding waves of sound, dissonant chords, relentless riffs and a skin-crawling outro.

“Swallow” may be 21 years old, but its crisp production and strong sound means it still kicks, as does the rest of Life Is Peachy. Give it a spin.
